Buffalo Now Has It’s Own Beer Garden Thanks to Resurgence Brewing Co.
If you haven’t been to Resurgence Brewing Co. on 1250 Niagara Street, you’ve been missing out.
This beautifully renovated warehouse has been turned into a shiny, wide-open beer garden and brewery for beer lovers of all kinds. Resurgence brewers Jeff Ware and Dave Collins produce some unique and high quality beer that all brewskies will enjoy, but especially Buffalo beer lovers. Debut flavors have not only been the expected IPAs and Kolschs, but also have included Loganberry Wit and Sponge Candy Stout–and yes, they taste just as amazing as they sound. In fact, in case a beer garden wasn’t enough to get me to this place in a timely manner, I heard that the Blood Orange Saison was to die for. Unfortunately, I’ve missed it on the few occasions I’ve been there (completely sold out, as it were), but let me just say the Summer Saison was no disappointment either.
Resurgence isn’t stuck on making the same old brews either. They’re not afraid to make sample batches for testing, such as this Barley Wine brew I was able to sample just a few weeks ago. While it was tasty, it hasn’t made their Resurgence Beers menu on their website. Every time I’ve found myself in Resurgence Brewing Co., the menu has had some brews on the chalkboard scratched off and others scribbled on. So while I still haven’t been able to get this legendary Blood Orange Saison I’ve heard so much about, other unknowns I wouldn’t have had otherwise such as the Strawberry IPA (which was actually an IPA with a slight aftertaste of strawberry and not a strawberry beer, as seems to be the fashion nowadays) have been sampled and thoroughly appreciated.
Does this all sound too good to know where to start? That’s OK, because Resurgence has beer flights in perfectly proportioned flight glasses so you can sample plenty.
So what can you expect from Resurgence Brewing Co. besides amazing small batch brews? Well, in my experience, you can expect a good time. Long bench tables are laid out in the traditional German beer garden fashion, each table topped with Trivia game cards to break the conversation up. Giant Janga is in two corners of the warehouse along with darts along one wall and corn hole lay out in a wide open area.
Continuous sky lights in the ceiling and massive glass garage doors let in the plenty of natural light, or if you want some more fresh air you can enjoy the enclosed beautiful outdoor beer garden patio that is surrounded by garden beds and a privacy fence and features a fire pit. It’s most certainly the most chilled place in Buffalo to sit around with friends without getting bar wild.
There’s a parking lot and street parking available, and plenty of space to lock up bicycles. There is some food offered, but this isn’t really a place to dine at so much as to sip at. Basically, this is a perfect spot for some pre-dinner drinks or evening chilling. Be certain to Google their hours or check their website because due to the brewing process, Resurgence Brewing Co isn’t open all hours of everyday, but they’ve most certainly been open when the timing is right!
