Teton Kitchen

Pad Thai Teton Kitchen

Depew now has excellent Thai and Japanese cuisine to offer at Teton Kitchen

What is better than fresh fish wrapped up in nori and sushi rice? Or rice noodles stir-fried with eggs and vegetables?

Nothing. Nothing is better than these two things.

And goodness gracious, I don’t think they come any better than at Teton Kitchen in Depew, NY!

Teton Kitchen Sushi

I got my first taste, literally, of Teton Kitchen at the 2014 Yelplies in Buffalo, NY. Teton Kitchen was handing out phenomenal samples of their sushi: both raw and cooked, fish or no fish. Since I’m good with fish, I tried their sushi rolls and a piece of sashimi, and I was blown away by how fresh it was! The fishiness was minimal, the rice wasn’t dry, and the flavors of the adds ins were bright and crisp. I loved it and Teton Kitchen really stood apart from the other vendors that night.

When it came time to choose a lunch destination with my friend who works in Depew, it was a no brainer for either one of us to meet here. With above 90% ratings on both Urbanspoon and Yelp, it’s irresistible to try.

Since I know the sushi is 5 stars, I wanted to try something different. Honestly, I was in the mood for soup, but once I looked at the lunch menu and my eyes landed on pad thai, I wasn’t so certain about udon anymore.

Everything looked so good and there were so many vegetarian options! I couldn’t believe the choices available even for an Asian restaurant! The prices were a little higher than I prefer to pay for lunch, but they still come in at less than $10 a person and they include a cup of soup, so I can’t really complain.

Once it was time to place our order with our server, I decided I could make soup at home anytime, so I went with the Vegetarian Pad Thai (no bell peppers, 3 star spicy) and my friend ordered the Ginger Sauce sautéed with broccoli, pepper, onion, and ginger with chicken. Our meals came with soups and she got the miso and I did the tom yam. I wish I didn’t, because it came with chicken. I wish the server said something, since I ordered vegetarian pad thai, but I know better and should have asked when I ordered it. I did try it and the soup was delicate and light. It was pretty tasty, but it wasn’t as spicy or flavorful as I expect tom yum to be. Perhaps that was the ‘tom yam’ indication? It’s not really tom yum? Whatever, I don’t care enough to think about it for too long.

Teton Kitchen Pad Thai

We received our meals in excellent timing, piping hot and smelling delicious! Both our presentations looked appetizing and we dug right in. My friend said she had been craving ginger for days and her dish hit the spot. My pad thai was absolutely delicious and so satisfying that it completely made me forget all about the soup. It’s hard to find a good pad thai, but Teton Kitchen has it down pat! Broccoli, eggs, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, and water chestnuts–ah, I can’t go on. I’m still full from it and just thinking about this pad thai is making my mouth water all over again!

If you’re in the Depew-Cheektowaga area, this is a great place to stop for lunch or dinner. Drive a little out of your way from the Galleria Mall and enjoy some truly delicious Asian cuisine at Teton Kitchen!
