For in-and-out service or a casual dining experience with great wifi, Corner Bakery Cafe is a great hot spot. Seriously though, I love going to Corner Bakery Cafe for lunch. Right along Niagara Falls Boulevard in Tonawanda, NY, Corner Bakery Cafe has a wide selection of soups, salads, and sandwiches for lunch, a selection of scramblers and sandwiches for breakfast, and tasty artisan breads and dessert treats for any time of the day. I started eating here about a year ago when I realized I needed to get my weight under control. At the time, they were one of the few places I could find with easily accessible nutrition info (right on the menu behind the ordering counter). It was a slight mix up from Panera and I could get a decent range of meals without meat. Their salads are great: reasonably sized, crisp lettuce and fruit, and the pomegranate vinaigrette from the Spinach Sweet Crisp Salad was so fantastic I would save some from to-go orders for salads later. It’s some of the best salad dressing out there, but very sweet, so if you’re not really into the sweet stuff, that might not be for you. Regardless, Corner Bakery Cafe offered a low calorie meal and was a staple for helping me trim off a few unwanted pounds. Another favorite of mine is the California Grille Panini. With marinated zucchini, artichokes, sun dried tomatoes, pesto, fresh spinach and provolone cheese, that grilled sandwich is something to crave. It’s savory and definitely not on the low calorie side. In fact, you could eat about 2 Spinach Sweet Crisp Salad entrees before coming anywhere near one California Grille entree, pre chips (which I usually save for an afternoon snack). So, you know, it’s a guilty pleasure but a really tasty one. You know what else is a delicious guilty pleasure? The mac and cheese. And now that I’m taking the time to really look at the calories on their website, I’m wishing more and more I just went with the The Trio Salad… The great thing about Corner Bakery Cafe is that these aren’t the only vegetarian options. There are several of them, and their seasonal menu switches up to keep your options fresh. It’s hard to diverge from the traditional favorites, but you at least can know that there is plenty to choose from. I’ve enjoyed them so much that I’ve ordered our company catering from Corner Bakery and they accommodated to not only myself, but also for my strictly vegan co-worker. Their sandwich tray, fruit bowl, and desert platter was a hit; more so the fruit bowl than anything else. Cornery Bakery Cafe began in Downtown Chicago in 1991, but now it’s a national franchise owned by Roark Capital Group. Every time I’ve been there the service has been good, the food’s been great, and the wifi fast. While it’s excellent for group get-togethers or dates, it’s also a popular destination for studying or remote working. They have self-serve fountain drinks, coffee, and brewed teas. Personally, I’m a fan of the black currant tea, but the fountain sodas are mixed right too. Hey, some places have too much carbonation or too much syrup, and I’ll be honest about it: Corner Bakery has a good mix. And so there you have it: deserts, fresh fruit, scrumptious sandwiches, and mouthwatering mac and cheese. Corner Bakery Cafe is a win be it breakfast, lunch, or dinner!
